WHO'S IMOUTTA ?
Tyler Wilson better known as imoutta is a multidisciplinary artist from Memphis, TN, based in Atlanta, GA, whose work lives at the intersection of image, identity, and intention. Working primarily in analogue formats, she uses photography as a language of emotion, memory, and presence. Her creative journey began in 2019 with the purchase of a Nikon FE, a moment that transformed her approach to moving through the world forever. Going from merely a hobby to a full-time career in 2024, she found space for imperfection and intimacy in photography, creating images that hold what is often overlooked. Her work weaves the personal with the political, inviting viewers to slow down, feel, and truly see.
Alongside her self-taught artistic practice, imoutta cultivated a rigorous academic foundation, earning a BFA in Political Science from Georgia State University in 2024, where she graduated with honors. Deemed a Global Scholar and member of the National Political Science Honor Society, she was consistently recognized for academic excellence, including various placements on the President’s and Dean’s List and an induction into Golden Key. Her studies, paired with an internship at Democracy House, display a practice rooted in awareness, civic consciousness, and care, reinforcing her belief that images are not passive but carry memory, responsibility, and power.
Since 2023, imoutta’s work has been exhibited and published internationally across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Her photographs have appeared in PhotoVogue, Georgia State University’s Underground Journal, Artist Archive, Analog Forever Magazine, and various juried exhibitions and festivals, including Eyes on Atlanta: Black Contemporary Photography, Casa Del Arte Palma, Concrete Canvas: Life Unfiltered, and Let go: An ode to releasing. Her work has been showcased in numerous places, including the Griffin Museum of Photography, 1078 Gallery, and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Named one of Hug’s 100 Artists and Photographers to Watch in 2024, she continues to expand her practice through self-publishing, exhibitions, and collaborations. Her work lingers not because it demands attention, but because it listens. While her presence is already global, imoutta magnifies what others miss.
And she’s just getting started! 🔍💫
